In a conversation with Reggie Yates, he cited the 2017 show he curated at the Hepworth Wakefield museum as a turning point in his understanding of the relationship between fashion and art. Prior to the show Disobedient Bodies, he said, “I didn’t see fashion as an art form.” But through the juxtaposition of his own designs with those of the sculptor Barbara Hepworth, he “kind of fell in love with fashion as an art form, as a craft, [and] as a skill.”
